This has so many plusses! The composition is fascinating and vibrant. The color is rich and stark, the light is nicely controlled and there is a bit of mystery. Best is the title you chose, it really makes you look and think about this seeting and the missing prior inhabitants.

James Aiken replied:

Thank you very much Douglas. I really appreciate that great comment.

Artist's Description

Two empty chairs on the corner of 34th street, in Herald Square, allude to the conversation that must have occurred during the very late night or very early morning hours.

Herald Square is formed by the intersection of Broadway, Sixth Avenue (officially named Avenue of the Americas) and 34th Street in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Named for the New York Herald, a now-defunct newspaper formerly headquartered there, it also gives its name to the surrounding area. (information obtained from Wikipedia)

About James Aiken

James Aiken

James currently lives and works in the New York City area, a far cry from a childhood in the splendors of rural Vermont. An unabashed introvert, James enjoys observing all that surrounds him without feeling the need to be an integral part of the proceedings. His goal as an artist is to express the remarkable within the familiar and ordinary, through critical examination and contemplation of the subject, without alteration of the scene... ...And sometimes he just gets lucky by being in the right place at the right time. PLEASE NOTE: - The 'Fine Art America' watermark that is present on each image will NOT appear on the finished print. %
