Description
A spiral stair rises through a tower enclosure resembling the structural building blocks of life, the double helix, of DNA.
In molecular biology, the term double helix refers to the structure formed by double-stranded molecules of nucleic acids such as DNA. The double helical structure of a nucleic acid complex arises, as a consequence of, its secondary structure, and is a fundamental component in determining its tertiary structure. The term entered popular culture with the publication in 1968 of The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA, by James Watson. (information obtained from Wikipedia)

Beautiful work James, isn't it funny how we gravitate towards designs that are also included in our own beings.

Nice clear helix. Reminds me of the spiral steps inside the tunnels of Diamond Head crater in Hawaii, where you navigate this in semi-darkness to get to and from the look-out point at the top.

If DNA was inorganic, this is exactly what it would look like! Great capture Jamie and fantastic rendered in B&W!

I really like the perfect symmetry of this piece, as well as the visual layers. A wonderful title and narrative for this work, James!

Absolutely adore this amazing and beautifully crafted composition. The framing of the piece with the brick siding and the concrete columns is mathematically exact and geometrically so pleasing. But the title is brilliant for this circular staircase that is the focus. Amazing, unique and very creative photography James. F/L
