Broadway theatres are widely considered to represent the highest level of commercial theatre in the English-speaking world.
The Broadway Theater District is a popular tourist attraction in New York City. According to The Broadway League, Broadway shows sold approximately $1.27 billion worth of tickets in the 2013-14 season and attendance stood at 12.21 million. (Information obtained from Wikipedia)
